Eastwood Graduate qualifies to play in tournament

Alyssa Shimel has been attending the tournament since she was 5 or 6 years old. At eleven years old her father requested a special exemption to play in the Junior Girls Amateur tournament; Alyssa played in the tournament and hasn’t looked back yet. She won the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Junior Girls Amateur in 2007 and her team won the Aquafina Junior Pro-Am in 2007. Follow that up with a Division II State Championship in 2010 and today Alyssa qualified to play in this year’s Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic! Alyssa shot a 74 Monday at Sylvania Country Club to qualify to play in this year’s tournament.
Alyssa will begin play with 149 other golfers this Thursday at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
