Dear JFOCC Volunteers,

This tournament could not possibly occur without a team of dedicated volunteers. The time and talents which each of you share, allow us to stage this premier sporting event. But when you combine our efforts with an exciting LPGA field, the numerous tournament sponsors, and patrons, we are able to realize the true success or reward. The positive impact this tournament has on those in our community being served by the benefiting Northwest Ohio children’s charities. Fourteen charities shared $451,000 from last year’s tournament proceeds. This increases the total impact from the tournament’s 23 year history in excess of $5,750,000 to 110 charities. Each of you should be proud to share in this accomplishment.

As we prepare for the 24th annual Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger, there will be an emphasis on expanding our volunteer base. Dick Flaskamp, the 2008 Assistant Volunteer Chairman, will be leading this effort. Dick is already busy creating recruitment materials and plans. These materials will be available for volunteers to utilize for organizations in which they participate, or contact Dick to arrange a presentation. Another focus area will be on volunteer communications, starting with this first VNews edition. The Vnews will allow for more frequent electronic correspondence. There will also be a post card mailing to alert past volunteers that registration has opened and to verify receipt of this electronic correspondence. Please help us, by notifying the office of any email address changes or delivery issues.

Help Recruit Volunteers for the JFOCC
You can help the JFOCC recruit new volunteers. The first way you can help is to talk to your friends and neighbors and tell them about why you choose to be a JFOCC volunteer. Direct your friends to the volunteer area of the website at www.jamiefarrowenscorning.com.

The second way that you can help is by assisting us in getting opportunities to tell the JFOCC story to groups in the community. Many of you are members of service organizations or religious organizations (Seniors, Women’s, Men’s, Youth groups) that invite speakers to their meetings. Suggest to the schedulers that they consider a speaker from the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. The story of the JFOCC is powerful and the Jamie Farr volunteer community is a wonderful group of people. Please help us get the message out.

2008 Uniforms
The shirts are orange this year and come from a new shirt maker, Ash City. Sizes for both men’s and women’s shirts should be closer to expectations. Samples of each size will be available to try on at the Tournament Office. Volunteers will also receive a blue, short sleeve jacket with the JFOCC logo along with their choice of a cap or visor. Khaki is the color once again for the pants, shorts, skorts, etc. Check out the pictures on the JFOCC website.

Registration is now open online
Registration for the 2008 tournament is open as of today. The tournament has held the line on costs so that even with inflationary pressures the adult volunteer package is still $55. The Early Bird Deadline is April 4 and Early Birds will receive a free grounds badge. Heather will be out on maternity leave (yes, Heather and Tim are expecting #2) in May so register early to alleviate her stress levels. Paper registration forms are available at the office for those who prefer not to use the online system.
