March 2008
Dear JFOCC Volunteers,
Although it’s still not golf weather outside, planning is well
underway for the 2008 tournament. Chairmen and Directors/Hole
Captains met with Global Golf this month to discuss improvement
opportunities for this year’s event. Much of this input comes
from ideas submitted on Volunteer Evaluation Forms (170
submitted last year). While it is not possible to implement all
the suggestions, Heather and I have considered each one. Your
input is valued.
A
post card mailing has been sent to all volunteers since 2005.
This is to ensure that all volunteers are aware that
registration has opened. It is also an attempt to identify
those volunteers that may not be receiving the VNews, whether
due to an incorrect address or possibly a spam filter. Please
help us improve volunteer communications, by notifying the
office of any email address changes or delivery issues.
I
encourage you to register early. Reminder that volunteers ($55
package) who register by April 4th will receive a
free Grounds Badge to share with family or friends. On-line
registrations should receive an email confirmation.
Concerns, questions, or suggestions? I can most easily be
reached by email at
srsaunders@firstenergycorp.com
or 419-321-7605 (days) and 419-698-3751 (evenings). Thanks for
your continuing support.

Help Recruit Volunteers for 2008
You can help the JFOCC recruit new volunteers. The first way
you can help is to talk to your friends and neighbors and tell
them about why you choose to be a JFOCC volunteer. Direct your
friends to the volunteer area of the website at
www.jamiefarrowenscorning.com.
The second way that you help is by assisting us in getting
opportunities to tell the JFOCC story to groups in the
community. Many of you are members of service organizations or
religious organizations (Seniors, Women’s, Men’s, Youth groups)
that invite speakers to their meetings. Suggest to the
schedulers that they consider a speaker from the Jamie Farr
Owens Corning Classic. The story of the JFOCC is powerful and
the Jamie Farr volunteer community is a wonderful group of
people. Please help us get the message out. To schedule a
JFOCC speaker, contact Dick Flaskmap at 419-450-3140 or

Hootie & The Blowfish to Headline Merrill Lynch Gala Dinner &
Show
The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger
announced that Hootie & The Blowfish will be the headline
entertainment for this year’s Merrill Lynch Gala Dinner and Show
scheduled for Tuesday, July 8th at the SeaGate
Convention Centre.
“In keeping with the tradition of bringing top musical talent to
the gala dinner we’re extremely excited to have Hootie & The
Blowfish headline this year’s event,” stated Steve Mickus, 2008
General Chairman.
Hootie & The Blowfish have sold over 25 million records
worldwide after their infectious melodies hit the airwaves in
1994 with hits “Hold My Hand”, “Let Her Cry” and “Only Wanna Be
With You.” The Album Cracked Rear View earned them
Billboard’s Band of the Year Award in 1996.
Tickets for the Merrill Lynch Gala Dinner and Show can be
purchased by calling the Tournament Office at 419-531-3277.
Tickets are $225 per person or $2,250 for a table of ten.
